Understanding the Grant Process

Wondering what our grant process is like? See below for our timeline that provides insight into how we operate from the moment applications open to when site visits occur. For those community based agencies with accessibility/language needs, reach out to our staff for accommodations.

    Applications Open

    Grant applications open every July for funding consideration the following calendar year.

    Online Sessions

    We will host several online sessions for potential grantees to review the application process, timeline, and expectations.

    Application Deadline

    Applications close at the end of August.

    Application Review

    Our team carefully reviews each application submitted.

    Follow-Up

    Organizations are contacted for follow-up questions, if necessary.

    Funding Recommendations

    Weitz Family Foundation Board of Directors meets annually in November to review funding recommendations.

    Notifications

    All applicants are notified of their funding status by mid-December.

    Grant Agreements Sent Out

    Grant agreements are sent out and, when signed by grantees, we will schedule a payment for the upcoming year.

    Funding Distributed

    Grant funding is distributed to each grantee throughout the following calendar year.

    Site Visits

    Staff conduct site visits with current and potential grantees from January to June.
